Therapeutic Anti- Ageing Modalities: Beyond Lotions & Potions

Age is best stopped in its tracks by taking preventive measures from the right age – ideally the mid-to-late 20s.Eating healthy food—green leafy vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and proteins—drinking at least a litre of water daily, exercising for 30 minutes,5 days a week and following good skin care practices. However, despite our best efforts, we fail and end up with lines, wrinkles, age spots etc. Under such circumstances, anti-aging tools come in handy.

Effective Skin Care Regimen:

A good anti-ageing treatment can make a huge difference in the appearance of aging facial skin and leave you with a clear, radiant, vibrant and healthy skin. Here are few tips to formulate an effective personalised skin care regime. A basic anti-ageing treatment regimen should include an exfoliating cleanser, toner, a moisturiser cream and a night cream.

  • A cleanser with an exfoliating action is essential to an anti-ageing treatment regimen. It can effectively remove the build up of dead cells from ageing skin.
  • Skin toner with low alcohol content to be used after cleansing the face is a must for normal to oily skins but best avoided by dry skins.
  • Because dry skin is prone to wrinkling than oily skin; ageing skin needs a daily moisturising cream.
  • Night cream is essential to an anti-ageing regimen. Ingredients will vary according to the skin type and condition. Ideally it should contain AHA, Polypenols, caviar, retinols, Hyaluronic acid, Pycnogenol, vitamin C etc. Anti-aging creams must be used under guidance of an expert dermatologist.
