Beating Heart Surgery and Hope for Octogenarians
With the Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh going in for beating heart surgery recently, the interest in the procedure has suddenly become hot, especially for the octogenarians. Bypass Surgery used to be a remote possibility in Indian scenario in octogenarians a couple of years back, but thanks to technological breakthroughs in the medical field, and new techniques that now bypass surgery can be offered to this age group with equal success rates. Beating heart surgery is one such technique which has helped achieve this even in situations like poor heart function or after a recent heart attack.
