Management of Cartilage defects of the Knee Joint - An Update
Cartilage being the most vital structure of the knee joint requires high level of care. Unfortunately problem of cartilage defect has remained unanswered since the time of Hippocrates. Last two decades has seen an outburst of various technologies for treatment of cartilage defects of the knee joint. The science of cartilage regeneration began with methods to generate fibrocartilage, but now a variety of methods to promote hyaline or hyaline like regeneration techniques is available. It has now become very important to study the implications of various treatment modalities, study their proper indications and identifying a protocol for choosing the right treatment. This paper studies various options and use of them for a correct indication.
